2-day workshop to learn the basics of thigh spinning with merino wool. Weave a medicine bag while growing to understand the history and meanings behind selected patterns and iconography.

NAVAJO RUG WEAVING / $362
3-day workshop: Learn the art of weaving from Master Navajo Weaver, Barbara Teller Ornelas, originally from Two Grey Hills and Newcomb, New Mexico, and her sister Lynda Teller Pete. Listen to family weaving stories and weave a 6.5” x 8.5” rug.

INTRO TO APPLIED BEADING / $100
1-day workshop: Contemporary artist Catherine Blackburn (Dene) will lead participants through a one-day beading workshop. Participants will learn the basics using the two-thread application technique as well as finishing details, including backing and edging your work.

BLACK WALNUT DYEING WORKSHOP / $225
A 2-day dyeing workshop with Carola Jones (North Carolina Toisnot Tuscarora) using black walnuts in immersion dyeing to create a range of colours from warm browns to black, as well as healing medicine. Participants will complete a specific set of samples that illustrate the range of possible colours using different ways of manipulating fabric.
