Network Weave

Network Weave

The Network Weave, an innovative initiative launched by Indigenous Fashion Arts (IFA), is strategically designed to establish a collaborative framework governed by Indigenous professionals in fashion, craft, and textiles. This program emanated from insights garnered at the 2020 IFA Festival, formerly known as Indigenous Fashion Week Toronto, and was further refined following a town hall meeting at the 2022 Festival. The Network advocates for Indigenous methodologies and nurtures supportive networks across fashion, the arts, and commerce through various research and activities in advocacy, professional development and sector development.

Adapting dynamically, the program ensures transparent and effective governance to meet the changing needs of Indigenous artists. It is dedicated to upholding cultural protocols and broadening industry access through strengthened cooperation. The Network Weave is committed to fostering autonomy and enabling artists to share resources, knowledge, and opportunities. Moreover, it supports a unified strategy that values traditional and modern practices. Through this network, IFA is committed to maintaining Indigenous cultural values, enhancing economic resilience for artists, and promoting greater professional involvement in culturally safe ways. The Network Weave is a vital component in a thriving landscape of Indigenous fashion arts.
