2024 IFA Festival Call for Models

Indigenous Fashion Arts (IFA) is now accepting model applications for the fourth biennial Indigenous Fashion Arts Festival!

This multi-platform festival of fashion, craft and textiles showcases work by Indigenous artists and designers from across Canada and around the world. The IFA festival runs from May 30 to June 2, 2024 in downtown Toronto. The four runway shows will feature 27 Indigenous designers. Model casting auditions will take place in Toronto starting March 28th, 2024. Please note, that if you are unable to travel to Toronto, we will be accepting virtual auditions.

We are seeking models with performance experience, including modelling, dancing or acting. We welcome models and performers of any body type, gender expression and ethnicity, as do the designers we work with. Selected models will be invited to perform in 1 – 4 of the runway showcases based on designer requirements. Selected models are paid a modest daily fee. Applications will close on February 22, 2024, at 11:59 pm EST.


In preparation for and throughout the festival, models will work under the creative direction of IFA Artistic Director Sage Paul and our runway choreographer. All models will report to the runway Stage Manager. For the festival, we request that selected models provide two pairs of presentable shoes that they can confidently walk in. Please note that all models will be photographed or video recorded for PR, media, educational, promotional, archival, artistic and possibly other purposes during this event in video, a live stream and photography and will be requested to sign a release form. IFA will provide hair & make-up.

IFA Festival Runway Model Requirements
(based on participating designers’ requirements and garment size):

  • You are an experienced or confident performer in modelling, dancing or acting. Runway experience is an asset.
  • Indigenous talent is prioritized however, ethnicity is open.
  • Any person of any body type and gender identity may apply for consideration to model at the IFA festival.
  • All ages are welcome to apply
    • Any applicants under the age of 18 must have their parent/guardian complete the application.
    • Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent/guardian during rehearsals and the festival dates.
  • All selected models must be available for fittings (day of the show) and rehearsals (in May and on the day of each show).

SELECTED APPLICANTS MUST ATTEND THE AUDITION TO BE CONSIDERED.
ZOOM AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD FOR THOSE NOT BASED IN TORONTO.

NOTE: IFA is unable to provide travel, accommodation or per diem to the casting audition, rehearsals or runway shows
