Louise Solomon is an Ojibwe multimedia artist and fashion activist from Toronto, Canada. Her Indigenous community is NEYAASHIINIGMIING and her Ojibwe name is Minowensetchketkwe [she who brings out the good spirit]. Louise is passionate about exploring and pushing the boundaries of what her interpretation of beauty is and what it means to be an Indigenous female raised in the heart of the city. Her love of art was nourished at an early age and her pursuit of cultural knowledge and art techniques have influenced all facets of her endeavours. Louise’s innate artistic flare was further nourished in formal education. She studied sculpture and extended media at the University of Guelph, as well as completed the Goldsmithing program at George Brown College, Toronto. Driven by her passion for Indigenous culture and art, Louise founded the “Hand of Solomon” — an Indigenous jewellery company that focuses on high-end wearable art in the form of avant-garde attire and statement pieces.
