MAU

Featured in: Time Weavers

Collection by:

“Mau” in Māori means ‘to wear’. The whakaaro (concept) behind ‘Mau’ is about seeing the stunning taonga (treasures) in dress. The Maori have a whakatauki or proverb ‘Titiro whakamuri, haere whakamua’. ‘Go forward while looking to your past’. The beauty of acknowledging the past is to show the strength and resilience of the Maori people and their incredible future. This collection features taonga that have been woven together using traditional Māori weaving techniques that sustain their stories and people.
