Hunter Corbiere is an Anishinaabekwe living on the shores of southern Georgian Bay. Starting her business “Noopimiing creations” in 2020 alongside her mom Jennifer, Hunter remembers growing up, watching her grandma and mom create many different things over her years. From the moccasins her grandmother would make, and remembering the distinct smell of leather and bread throughout her house. Just like the many talented women in her life, Hunter has found her own path and style of beadwork and art form, mixing her passion for the environment and traditional skills from her beadwork, moccasins, caribou/moose hair tufting and porcupine quill pieces. Hunter is dedicated to preserving craft traditions, passed down through generations as a source of healing and cultural reconnection. Corbiere continues to honours her grandmother’s legacy by teaching and creating alongside with her mom and in the footsteps of her ancestors.
