Brit Ellis aka Blu Hummimgbird is a Haudenosaunee (Onondaga) designer and multidisciplinary artist specializing is beadwork, with a background in community work and counselling. She weaves intricate, one of a kind pieces that inspire conversation and connection.

Influenced by her love of pop culture and bold tattoo design, Brit aims to create a variety of works that speak to the complexity of Indigenous identities and experiences on Turtle Island.

Established in 2012, Blu’s work has been featured in Flare, Luxe, The Walrus, FASHION and Native American Art Magazines, on TVO, as well as CBC’s Cross Country Check Up and Unreserved Radio programs.

Brit is a Haudenosaunee woman of mixed ancestry living in Tkaronto with her dog Morty.
