Taalrumiq, an Inuvialuk and Gwich’in fashion designer and artist, hails from Tuktoyaktuk, Inuvialuit Settlement Region, on the shores of the Arctic Ocean in Canada’s Northwest Territories. She comes from a long matrilineal line of Inuit creatives who sewed for survival in the arctic. Taalrumiq integrates traditional knowledge with a contemporary understanding; Her popular digital video content bridges screen-based storytelling with traditional craftsmanship. Her creations reflect a fusion of cultural roots and modern influences, inspiring reclamation and celebration of Indigenous identity.
