Karennotakies Barnes (Mohawk of Akwesasne), a 27-year-old mother of two, embraces a traditional lifestyle deeply connected to her culture. When not tending to her children, she is hunting, hide tanning, gardening, and on medicine walks, while also creating and selling beadwork during their travels for lacrosse games and tournaments.
